In early 2023, a Brooklyn advertising agency reached out to me for assistance with a current project. West Wing Grill in Washington, D.C. had tapped them for a rebrand, and as part of this work they wanted to create a branded pattern comprised of fun illustrations and type treatments to be printed on the paper tray and basket liners used to serve food to restaurant patrons.

I was happy to oblige and, working with the agency creative director, set to work creating a series of illustrated elements, in a couple of styles for variety, and bespoke type lockups matching the tone, look, and colors of the new brand.

I created a fun branded pattern matching the tone, look, and colors of the new restaurant brand.

While the vast majority of the work I do obviously involves design and art direction, I also enjoy a copywriting assignment from time-to-time, and this was the perfect opportunity. With an openness for humor and the subject matter (and restaurant location) ripe for political puns and wordplay, I relished the chance to dig in on both sides of the creative aisle — art and copy.
